At BAMcinématek March 11-March 14, Edward Yang's "A Brighter Summer Day" will be showing its new 4K digitally restored cut of the original 1991 film, which showcases a teenage boy's striving to live and thrive in the political, cultural, and familial torments of 1960s Taiwan. But more than being a reflection of its a particular time and place, "A Brighter Summer Day" also encompasses rebellion, music, love, and all that comes with teenage life.
